MR. EYBYANINCH 19
"Kick the bitch in the tummy." Nothing I ever do will ever out-wrong Ice Cube at his peak. Two pages from now, I'll do my best.

Let's say you go a little crazy and decide to try to get a big-ass comic done as fast as is humanly possible. Or youmanly possible, really. Two things you want to avoid:
1) the above HAND-stipling page that wasn't even a part of your layouts or schedule, idiot
and
2) mistake your mug of india ink for your mug of coffee when going for that big, single, mug-emptying gulp.
Do the second one only if you want to somehow empathise more closely with Tom Neeley's characters.

MR. EYBYANINCH 16
NO color. Today, I'm thinking no color for Mr. Eybyaninch. Of course, then I look at a panel like this one, and I think color might help it some. Maybe if I just go back in and spot some blacks it will be fine. Drop some shadows.
I also printed and assemble a dummy of the big, silly cheese fight comic that turns into abstract art comedy. It's called Earth Minds Are Weak #10: THE SAUCE OF CONTENTION! And it is a deluxe 7x8.5" edition, printed on faux parchment paper and bound in a Jupiter red pearlescent cardstock cover. And It will have stickers affixed, but I need to get me an X-Acto for that. It's both a commentary on the Omnibus-Masterwork-Archive-ing of silly action comics, and something that makes me laugh. Mostly the latter. Ask for it by name or vague description!

MR. EYBYANINCH 15
Breakin' out the Ames Guide! Ames lettering takes about 100 times longer than the freestyle I used on the other pages, but I think it's fitting. It gives it a more instructional look while still looking hand-drawn. Also, I had a lot of information to convey, so I needed something for the tight delights. How does Dan Zettwoch do it with the diagrams? I ask, 'cause that was rough, and I didn't even have to figure out how the mechanics actually work, or make a readable diagram.
Anyway, that was a slow page. But I think it will hold a place of honor in my Crazytown, butterfly.

Ok. #12 brush, Hunt 102 and Hunt 107. All business. I kinda wish every drawing looked like this. It makes a good argument for doing so much work at once, let me tell you.

MoCCA 08
Can we push MoCCA back a few weeks or so? I've got cylanders I didn't even know I had firing on new horsepowers. Seriously. Move it to the begining of July and I'll have five new books ready to go.

SAUCE!
Pages 2 and 15
That makes 7! And I'm floor tiles away from getting the 8th page (page 1) done. I probably won't scan it until tomorrow though.
I'm not quite as ahead of schedule as that might sound though, as I've thought of this new gag I'd like to get in there. Pages 16 & 17 to go. At least.
Then front, back and inside front covers to figure out. One will probably be a text piece.

Two down, 5 to go. I have two pieces of the Action scanned, one drying and two about halfway done. Business!

MR. EYBYANINCH 09
Yesterday only got worse and worse. So, I got drunk instead of finishing this page. Today was a sad day, but all the shock is wearing away. And it seemed important to get back to work.
I'll have another Action page done tonight as well, but I won't get it scanned in until tomorrow.

MR. EYBYANINCH 08
Page 8! This prints a lot greener than it looks on screen. I may have to bump the yellow higher for super sicks.
This was hand-colored, using a technique I think I remember reading Seth uses for his comics. I painted the to-be-color areas with pro-white paint on a clear vellum overlay. It's kind of a cool way to work, because the vellum isn't completely clear and it wrinkles as the ink dries. So, you become less and less sure of what you're doing as you go along.
Then I scanned both pages, did my tweaks, and turned the white areas of the overlay into that green. Then I combined them in photoshop and tried to figure out where they synced up.

MR. EYBYANINCH 03
Last night I had a nightmare about the pax romana that followed a war between man and the bears. That's right: a nightmare. About the peace that followed a war. Between men and bears.
And they say I need to get out of the house more often.

Since I obviously don't have 5 other projects I"m trying to get done, here's Mr. Eybyaninch Page 1:
Honestly. It's like I have nothing but all the time in the world.
